Blogging and Novels:
Blovels
In April, we asked you about blogging. Here are the results:
The majority of
Bookhitch.com members are avid bloggers, with 72% of members saying that they
presently keep a blog or have kept one in the past. Their blogging schedules
vary, however, with most bloggers writing entries a few times a week.

Only a small number of
respondents who keep blogs said that they updated them daily, or with over one
month between blog entries.
When asked what they
blog about, members were split between a blog dedicated to a single, focused
subject and a blog about their everyday lives, with only 8% of members keeping
a travel blog.

Respondents also
indicated that they use their blogs to post publication news about their books,
and some highlight other authors and writers on their blog.
Only one third of
respondents would consider writing a serialized story on a blog, with the
majority of our members uncertain about the idea of a blog being a forum for
stories.

No respondents had ever
written a blovel, or a serialized story of any sort using a blog.
It seems that blogs are
a great tool for authors to use, especially because it gives them the
opportunity to inform their readers about their publishing news. When it comes
to using them to write stories, though, many members have not warmed up to the
idea yet. Whether the blovel trend will continue to grow in popularity or not
remains to be seen.
