Book Review :
“The authors of this incredibly intelligent and all-embracing book present in downright encyclopedic detail an impressive picture of life in the Arctic regions in the early centuries and in today’s time…Hardly any subject remains unexplained: from politics and economics via problems of societies or threats to the environment all the way to art works and the entry of ‘modern life’ into the small settlements of the polar people…Far from romanticising the high North, this book offers a many-layered and precise picture. The innumerable and enchanting pictures are accommodating exactly this objective: no voluptuous landscapes in the ‘eternal ice,’ but informative scenes from the every day of a strange world…” ( Freddy Langer, FAZ-Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, Germany’s foremost daily) ------ There are many other very favorable reviews from Germany, Switzerland, Austria, The Netherlands, Luxemburg etc.)
